Visited, yes, by grandmothers who call a web browser their "Yahoo".

The company has done absolutely zero to differentiate itself from any other portal, and still operates on the ancient and dog-eared model of it's old dial-up AOL-esque service. What has Yahoo done lately that is innovative, bleeding edge, or makes world news other than replace a CEO? All the company does these days is live off it's affiliated marketing income from old people using it as their home page.

No. While the movie companies did increase their fees, they only increased them to levels which were not artificially deflated. The movie companies wanted their fair share. No more Blockbuster stores. Redbox and Blockbuster Express both having to charge $2-4 for movies now when a year ago it was only $1. Netflix was left with the choice of staying competitive and keeping it's paying customers happy, which would entail a lower profit, but still a profit nonetheless, or being greedy and going for double the money. They got greedy and immediately felt the consequences of their action in the internet age.

This is absolute bullshit FUD tastygrove. I have a number of gmail and yahoo accounts and deal with folks that have both and my gmail accounts have never filtered legitimate yahoo content as spam. In fact, I would say that it is my yahoo accounts that have the more aggressive filter (and one that is not always consistent with repeated addresses). As for Android, again, every Android phone I've ever had has had all my yahoo accounts routed to it as well as all my gmail ones and one hotmail account. all of them worked perfectly. I should mention that other than gmail I used the native email app for my other accounts instead of the yahoo mail app (which is pretty crappy). Yahoo and Hotmail work flawlessly in the native e-mail app. Gmail works perfectly in it's own app, however Android seems to have an issue with multiple gmail account permissions and periodically asks for captcha verification of different gmail accounts.

So we should accept that Yahoo is dying because gmail has purposely sabotaged them? BTW, I am starting to get spam from gmail accounts. Google is popular because everyone was tricked into thinking they had to use them for every single thing they ever did online. Then Facebook came along and stole a lot of Google's thunder (also with little reason). This ends up being like Dr. Seuss's sneetches on the beaches all trying to do the thing they think is popular for no other reason than to do what the crowd is doing.

I'd rather see a story unfold as originally intended. Much better than 'crowd-sourced' storytelling.

If something goes into production with the intent of 'tweaking' it, then there wasn't a clear vision going in; most likely not something I'd watch -- regardless of the distribution method.

Thanks though for stopping by ;-)

I disagree. releasing ALL the episodes at once robs them of the ability to tweak the episodes in response to feedback, thus creating a better product.

Also, waiting eagerly for the next week episode allows a lot of blogging and discussion to take place in the interim, which adds to buzz.

Good move. Selling ad space is not a long term business. A constant barrage of more intersting sites will dilute and eat away at visitor traffic. Owning an ecosystem and content has potential, but two companies like Netflx and Yahoo going on a downhill spiral better have a leadership team that will ready for the integration and marketing/ third party developer support to elevate both companies out of "loserville".

Netflix is going downhill... but that will change the second the idiot who made the choice to increase the fees is ousted. At that point, more users will return.... People did not leave because the cost broke the bank. They let out of spite and contempt for this prick. And could you really blame them? I mean this guy had a business that was almost a gaurantee for profit and growth. I mean think about it... the smart phone and tablet markets starting to blossom... Netflix could have EASILY created accounts that allowed streaming on several devices and renting movies via streaming for a low cost....

But thats not going to happen now..

I think reports of Netflix dying are premature. They've had a few well publicized blunders, but now February is around the corner with a new series being released, Lilyhammer, streaming only, on Netflix. Their business model is a new one, release all episodes in a series on the same date so that viewers can watch at their own pace.

I wish I liked serialized gangster dramas like Lilyhammer, but I've read other series are being produced for Netflix. I'm looking forward to House of Cards in late 2012 -- a 26 episode remake based on a 1990's BBC miniseries. 13 episodes of Hemlock, a horror-story series. I've also read they're continueing Arrested Development

I'd like Netflix to stick around as-is and continue to innovate on behalf of the viewer -- not the studios.

Funny thing i was thinking... Is that yahoo will die without.

Conspiracy theory time, try it out, amuse or annoy your friends.

Google is behind the decline of yahoo mail... Not for the reasons you suspect. Gmail treats ALL YAHOO MAIL AS SPAM REGARDLESS OF CONTENT. Also, android phones seem to have a lot of trouble with using yahoo mail accounts. 2 of my 4 yahoo accounts randomly stopped working on my android. After googling ,apparently , this issue has existed for ages. The typical replies "derr use gmail dood."

Coinkydink? Probably. A little fishy? Like your mom.
