I have to say, if you have kids, then you are still using the Kinect. The thing is a 7-12 yoa magnet. Kinect Sports is an addiction of my 8 yoa Girl..who loves the volleyball. I kinda dig it too. Soccer isn’t that bad either. But I am a PC Gamer and used the Kinect as the Tool to get a 360 into the House.. So I cannot bad mouth it.. ;-)
I do see potential in a Full Volleyball game, or maybe making a full soccer game, with a bit more depth of controls… My Wii sit’s quietly in the Corner.. Maybe it will be brought back to life when the Kids grow tired of the Kinect.. But they still have that damn Dancing game to play.. Bleh..

I’ve had it since launch and Kinect has become an essential tool of my everyday life. I’m using my Kinect every single day to play EA Sports Active 2 and I’m loving it. I’m actually motivated and excited to be exercising. As someone who hates cardio more than anything in the world. At first I was a bit disappointed when I tried Your Shape Fitness because despite a good first impression the game turned out to be somewhat shallow and more boring and frustrating than expected. EA Sports Active was nothing like Your Shape and actually seemed targetted at people serious about getting in shape. Dance Central is also addictive fun and takes a ton of practice to get good at. The whole family loves Kinect Sports and Joy Ride because outside of a few XBLA games like Peggle/Pac-Man these are the first Xbox 360 games that are approachable to them.

Sweeping through movies and TV show previews with the Kinect is amazing. I can’t wait until Netflix and Hulu support come into place in the Spring. The voice control works exceptionally well. We are finally living in the future and the two best things I have as proof of it are my Neato Robotics vacuum cleaner and my Xbox 360 Kinect.

I like the idea of Kinect but so far I’m not getting much from it. The games are so dumb and simple. Are people really getting this stupid that they need to dumb everything down? Is it so hard to learn to play a game? Joy Ride anyone? What a piece of crap. Auto everything and no skills required to even place third. Too much lag right now and imprecise controls is what kills the Kinect after the novely has worn out. I’m holding onto it though to see how that star wars game turns out. I love Star Wars and I know the game is on rails and looks a little cheesy, but just hoping it turns out well. Also hoping I didn’t waste my money on kinect when 3ds is right around the corner.

Shoud have gotten the Wii for family night instead. Many more games for the family plus 1st party Nintendo exclusives as well. Wait on Kinect until they have something worthy of it’s technology.

Gaming isnt about getting off the couch. Its about the graphics, using a stick controller and the story line period. My parents didnt want me playing video games all day so they set limits and when that was up they told me to turn it off and go outside. sure give your kids video games but its not about playing video games with motion its about limited time then send your kids outside

LOL @ Killzone, that is a joke right ? have you actually seen the lag in the demo when using Move it’s unplayable and now they have added an auto target system to it because of the lag and that defeats any point in actually using Move with it.

Your just jealous otherwise you wouldn’t be here trying to convince people that the piece of crap known as Move was better.

So you can’t wait for Lagzone 3 which they have just bolted Move on to NO NEW IPS just bolt it on to any old game and some mugs will buy it.

So what is coming out for Kinect this year ALL NEW IPS not just rubbish bolt ons to old ips

1. Steel Battalion Heavy Armor (Capcom, From Software)
2 Rise of Nightmares (SEGA)
3. Project Draco (Grounding, Microsoft Game Studios)
4. codename D (Grasshopper Manufacture, Microsoft Game Studios
5.Haunt (NanaOn-Sha, Microsoft Game Studios)

And of course there is Star wars and Forza 4 is also going to have Kinect option and all these titles are only what’s been announced so far MS always hold back on some titles until the show.

I havn’t used my Kinect for a while. Not because I’m bored of it, but because as a hardcore gamer I bought it to play party games with friends and family. The next time my friends or family come over, I will use it again. Until then its Black Ops for me. So you see, Kinect is not a waste but broadans my gaming horizon. I would have never played video games with my family & friends without it. They think I’m childish and a nerd to play video games like BlackOps, but willing to bust a move with Dance Central or score goals in Kinect sports.

i cant stand when my friend brings over his kinect. im sorry but kinect is borng as hell. kinect adventures is terrible being drunk doesnt even make it fun. its like you guys are in denial. kung fu live is funner than anything ive seen for kinect and its only 15 bucks. ps move is where its at cant wait for sorcery and killzone 3 with move. kinect cant even keep up with you like the move does. playing ping pong with just your hands? give me a break it feels so diskinected, lol, you people are just trying to justify your purchase of a piece of crap.

so your justification is that the game is easier to use. well that goes against what makes getting new games somewhat fun. the learning curve. button layout makes a difference with games. and it seperates gamers skill level i understand that your kids havent learned to play the wii yet but really why are you popping your 5 yr old in front of the tv to play a game shouldnt they be doing something constructive like playing with real toys.i’m just saying if they arent even going to work on there hand eye coordination. dumbing the game down seems to do exactyly what it says dumbing the games down. kinect works for families along with the wii and move but all in all your kids shouldnt be sittingin front of the tv playing games to the point where you should spend 400 on a system.

This is why I returned mine. Why waste the cost of 3 full, great games now for something that will – may – might – one-day actually be useful?

I’m not paying to wait for the games I want to play…I’m paying to play, now.

I’ll buy another Kinect when it has something that’s worth playing.
Right now, it’s a typical 1.0 product. I’ll wait for the next Kinect software update and decent games, then spend $150 when it’s worth it.

I haven’t used my Kinect in the last two weeks either, but it’s not because I have put in the infamously fanboyish “collecting dust” status. It’s because lately I have been too busy, I haven’t played anything as of late (360, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS).

People need to understand the main reason a product is made, who it is particularly aimed at, and stop trying to will it to fit their needs. If you are so-called hardcore gamer, then don’t buy Kinect or the Wii and move on; (no pun intended) but for god sakes shutup about it will you. I wouldn’t buy a motocycle and whine about how we I get when riding it in the rain.

I understand people have been whining since the days of the Romans, and they will continue to do so. However I would expect so-called professional journalist (or credible bloggers) like Don Reisinger to abstain from this type of infectious behavior, being is all it does is rile up the already immature fanboys.

Kinect is a great product and when we play it, we outright have a blast. Of all the motion control systems I own (Wii, Move, and Kinect) I will say I have had more fun with Kinect (my family also) that the other units. But that’s okay, I still love them all and will continue to used them all.

All the reason given in the article apply to my decision of buying Kinect in November, but for past 2 weeks i haven’t used it for anything. I feel like I have wasted $150, as my Kinect is actually collecting dust.
