I agree to an extent. I would love to keep playing these timeless classics in the future, but the method is ridiculous. I don't want to repeatedly wave my hand like a moron to play zelda or any other games I grew up with. It's just not right. Nintendo needs to go back to it's roots if it wants to stay on top of the hardware situation. I wouldn't mind playing mario on 360, but if Nintendo wants to do something about it they should for example, remaster the 64 - beef up the 64 to be as cappable or more than any other consoloe out there while still featuring metroid and DK and Zelda. Until that day comes, Nintendo is dead to me.

Can Slashgear please stop with these nonsense, scaremongering, drivel Nintendo are doomed and should stop making hardware crap.
Nintendo has just come off the back of making arguably the two most successful consoles of all time. A little shakiness several months in to trying to follow that up, is more than understandable.

I said it last tiem you posted one of these stupid stories.
It was a huge mistake for Sega to do it, It would be suicide for Nintendo.

The thing I've always liked about Nintendo is how imaginative they are. They don't care about how many horses you have under the hood as much as the experience they create for you in the car (granted horsepower does play a good part) If Nintendo could combine their imagination with the latest gaming technology and not totally alienate themselves from 3rd party developers, I think they'll be on top.

Fair point, however, ever thought about wheather a Nintendo game could really work on another console? Ever thought why Sega games aren't as good as how they were when Sega was on the Hardware side of business? Because the hardware they make is what determines their games. You see, Nintendo builds their hardware to make the games they come up with. If they were making games on someone else's console it wouldn't be the same because they're not 100% on top of what they can really get out of the console.

And it's not just motion controls, it's everything that goes with it. Remember the N64 controller? Or the gamecube controller? Imagine playing Ocarina of time on a PS1, no analogs, and on the SNES pad layout, it does kill the experience. Same thing with the GC, it was the console with best potential until the Xbox came, and still had games that were arguably nice to look at. Swap over for a sec Nintendo games on their respective gen's rival console. Playing mario World on the Mega drive? Try running with Mario on that controller, that uncomfy layout, no way. Then imagine Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask or perfect Dark on the PS1. Besides looking worse, the lack of analog and the controller layout, do you really think it would be the same? Then the Gamecube, man that controller has to be one of the best ever made alongside the 360 controller! Playing Luigi's Mansion, Windwaker or Mario Sunshine would def not be the best experience. And don't get me started on the Wii, because it does not have graphics no where near as good as the competition but their controls are amazing, MPC is hands down a masterpiece! Re:4 Wii is the best edition so far, Mario Galaxy doesn't use much the mnotion controls but damn right it's comfy to have them.

Plus, If Nintendo is out, who's going to bring new ideias to the table? Let's not forget all that they've done and keep doing for this industry. Hence why it does make a difference if their games are on their console, each generation has shown that their games a much better off being on their console as it was for various reasons.
I personally love games, good, fun games, no matter who makes them. But Nintendo are as good as they are because their know their stuff. I love all consoles, but each game is always better suited to a certain platform over the other. CS on the xbox too? Or WoW on the Wii? That's just a bad ideia because like Nintendo games they make the most out of the hardware they're on therefore better suited on where they are.

Absolutely. Just like 5 Halos in 2 generations and 3 Resistances and 3 Drakes in one. 3 fucking identical God of Wars as well as Gears of War etc etc.

When ever theres something new in gaming, 9 times out of 10 its from Nintendo and for awhile game industry is rejuvenated again.

Why can't Nintendo just die? They made some amazing games in the past, but now they just keep remaking the same game OVER and OVER again. Nintendo is like that one guy who gets some laughs when he makes one little joke and he thinks he is a comedic genius. Nintendo just keeps making simplistic and repetitive games, and for some reason, fanboys keep buying them.

Well Nintendo, you need to stop...and make something new, now, or die trying.

Out of hardware, Nintendo is most focused on input methods, which has always been the most important component in game console, and now that the graphics have evolved into a point, where it is even harder to make noticeable improvements, the input methods are even more important.

I would prefer to play Halo on Wii U.

Everyone wants to ditch Nintendo after the profit forecast drops due to the lackluster 3DS sales. Why else would this story have been written or the many others telling us how Nintendo should make games for mobile devices. You say you don't mind playing Mario or Zelda on the Xbox because the games are what really shine and not the combo of hardware and software. If that's true you'd have to say the same thing about Halo being played on a PS3 or Gears of War on the WiiU. Nintendo not being about to make hardware would be the end of an incredible era in gaming and playing Mario or Zelda on another console that isn't Nintendo just wouldn't be right.

quick wit- how many Sega games can you name made within the last 2 years?
Back when the dreamcast was out, the company was phenomenal (subjectively!), but I find myself hard pressed to name even a handful of sega games now. You may not have flinched when Sega went software only, but I don't see another crazy taxi or "Sonic adventure" out anytime soon,

..ì just got an iPad 2-32GB for $ 23.87 and my girlfriend loves her Panasonìc Lumìx GF 1 Camera that we got for $ 38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 657 which only cost me $ 62.81 to
buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from,

I don't agree. It's fine that we both don't agree with each other, but I feel that Nintendo makes their software specifically to be played on their hardware. Now, yes these games absolutely can be made for all systems (especially from the gamecube generation and earlier), but I feel that the very reason that Nintendo is branching off with their own control schemes is to have their software standout, from a control point of view, from other titles. There is no way that I would want to take Metroid Prime 3 and play it on a two analog stick console as opposed to the Wii's pointing motion controls and if they continue to make Zelda games with more and more precise motion sword controls, they I could say the same for Zelda.

One thing that I noticed during the N64 era that I had not noticed before was the precision of the controls implemented into Nintendo's 1st party titles. I love Mario games, but I really couldn't think of why, I mean he's just a fat plumber in overalls. What makes this game more appealing. I realized comparing Mario64 with other 3D platform games at the time that Mario64's controls were spot on. The second that you pressed that button, he jumped, the second you wanted to turn, he turned. No I know that has a lot to do with programming and not hardware, but something tells me that Nintendo making its own hardware specifically for it's software makes some of that possible.

As for Sega, I was a huge fan. Since they stopped making their own hardware, think I've played one Sonic game. That might make me a fair weather fan, but I really loved Sega and I loved buying their systems and when they stopped....I stopped. So there is one perspective.

"Call me crazy, but I just don’t see any reason to turn my back on Nintendo if it gets out of the hardware business."
Why would anyone argue this? Nintendo is far from this happening, anyway.
