I feel Apple is only not coming out with the white iPhone beacause it will lose them money . More people will buy the black one rather than white and they don’t wamt to spend all this money making them if they aren’t going to sell .

Let me maybe first to speculate this is an ANTENNA problem. What?

As you know the black unit is well designed except for the metallic antenna in the rim of the unit, which can be shorted out or detuned with fingers. (The rest of the transmitter/receiver system is actually more sensitive than competitors, but the antenna glitch and the signal level indication glitch caused consternation perhaps out of proportion to actual defect.)

Then the antenna guy at Apple quit, didn’t say why.

I read there are alternate antenna designs which are distributed INSIDE the cell phone yielding excellent gain without liability of being shorted out by fanbois fingers.

Apple COULD have availed themselves of said antenna design, except for the fact it is patented and needs to be licensed–maybe cost a bit more :( .

Could it be version 5 will have a distributed antenna design, and version 4 black customers got sold an inferior design?

i dont think thats true because in PAKISTAN a company is offering iphone 4 white.WWW.HOMESHOPPING.PK , you go to the website and select iphone 4 black and read down the reviews, its states that the white is available for 1150 USD.

Not ripping on you directly… Just saying…. It’s annoying to see 500 articles a day devoted to Apple and EVERY article say it. I’m not sure why it matters and for anyone that has followed tech in the last year, they could probably point it out on a map before they could point out Washington DC.

Thanks for the article. I’d been wondering if we’d ever see one of the white iPhones. While (like cars or appliances) not necessary to have the device in various colors, I did think it would look nice.

As for the “haters” who are so quick to criticize others’ efforts I’d like to say:

Do something unique yourself instead of putting down someone who is actually out there doing something – you flipping jerks.

It’s a good thing you mentioned that the company is based in Cupertino. I’d have no idea what you were talking about where it not for that. I’d have been all like, “What Apple? Which one? The one in San Jose? Detroit?” but no, you clarified it for me.
