This just in:

A source familiar with the situation and close to Verizon has confirmed that Verizon Wireless will STOP pre-installing applications which can't be removed on their smartphones.

Analyst believe that although Verizon makes money by allowing third parties to pre-install, it will lose a lot more when their subscribers get pissed that they cannot find one good phone without carrier or device manufacturer crap on it.

This prediction has surfaced just as Apple has announced that they will not allow Verizon to mess up their phone.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if Blackberry, Android, or Windows Phone 7, is the best handset ... the smartphone with no Verizon crapware will clearly have a great advantage.

How difficult can it be to paint a phone a different color? IMO, Apple never intended to have a white iPhone. Think about it... After years of built-up anticipation, Verizon iPhone is finally a reality. This is the big news today, but three days from now, it will be just "meh". So they do these little "mistakes" to maintain some rumors, some hype...
