Ps3 rocks to Unlock the features of the ps3 download ps3 media server (free) then you can stream avis, Mkv, mpeg4, mp3, aac, jpeg etc. Only thing ps3 media misses out on is playing blu ray Iso. No biggy just convert them to Mkv as the blu ray chew to much capacity anyways. Btw I also have the live tv hub

Without many conversion the PS3 don’t play all the format you can read with the WD TV Live, even Blu-rays format.
Play Station is basically for PLAYing.
WD TV is for streaming.

Since the brand new version with WiFi, at this day, it’s the best TV streaming media player on the market.
It supplant Apple TV (needs i-Tunes) and LG ST600 (don’t support Flash over 8) for his compatibility.
It supplant D-Link Boxee Box (take a full day to initial configuration) for his simplicity and cost/quality ratio (200$).

You have to try to understand !!

PS3: 250$, WDTV:100$
WDTV: Play directly from Windows shared (SMB/CIFS), Play ISO.
PS3: Play BluRay.

Since the world is changing to virtual content instead of physical medias (like DVD), the choice between the PS3 and the WDTV isn’t so hard to do. Little, low cost, easy to use, huge community, very complete solution… WDTV.

IMO
WD has the best and more complete media streaming on the market. This product isn’t
new, it have more than a year. it can play any video format with subtitles and
audio formats, they are 1080p and have HDMI, component, optical audio and can
be used like a media server, the live hub have a 1TB HDD and both have USB so
you can add or extend storage capacity.

Am I missing something here? Is there any advantage this type of device has over traditional methods of getting TV, since you have to buy the device and then subscribe to different services to get programming. I can do that with my PS3 and it plays Blu-rays and games. Maybe I’m getting cynical, but it seems like a lot of companies are putting together these products without really considering how they differentiate themselves in the market.
