Watch GTA V as a first-person shooter, looking like Half-Life

If we didn't know better, we'd guess that this Grand Theft Auto 5 video was created with Valve's Source engine. Instead, modded XBLToothPik suggests he's working with a modded Xbox 360 and the original Grand Theft Auto V to create a first-person experience for the game. Not just first-person inside vehicles, first person everywhere, at all times.

Here you'll see Los Santos from behind your arms. It's surprising that we're seeing this mod convert so easily to a familiar first-person shooter perspective given the fact that such a view suggests a person's arms are far higher than they are on a real human being. Such is the way of things.

But what you'll see above – UPDATE: and below – is Grand Theft Auto V taking hold in a mod that we've come to expect from a PC. Instead it's done on an Xbox 360, and we must expect it'll eventually come to the Xbox One and the rest of the platforms for this game as well.

Grand Theft Auto 5 (or GTA V, whichever you prefer) will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC later this year. Specific release dates have not yet been shared.

BONUS: Above you'll also see a Grand Theft Auto V "Gravity Gun" switched on by the same modder. This gun is rudimentary but very, very similar to the gravity control and tossing action you'll see in Half-Life 2, Garry's Mod, and Saint's Row IV.
