Although not officially announced, it is now all but confirmed that the next entry in the very popular Lego video game series will be a block-toy adaptation of the Lord of the Rings movie franchise. Eagle-eyed enthusiasts noted that on the packaging for a new line of Lord of the Rings Lego toys, there are references to a related video game.
Specifically, the toy packages show logos for Traveller's Tales, which is the company that has developed most of the previous Lego movie video games. There is also a logo for Warner Bros, which is the franchise's publisher. So there is probably little doubt that a Lego Lord of the Rings title is in the works - and of course that a beand new line of toys will accompany that release.
The game will likely be officially unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade show next month. The Lego video game series has proven to be one of the most successful ventures for both Warner Bros and Lego, which has in part used its success to rebrand itself into an exciting and up-to-date entertainment brand.
