As some of our readers may note, I’m not exactly a big fan of the PS3. I just haven’t found any good reasons to drop $500 $600 on a gaming console. And no, I don’t care about Blu-ray. Until the format wars are over, I’ll just stick to my DVDs.

Looks like there is another good reason to refrain from purchasing a new PS3. It appears that consoles with serial numbers CE133212XXX and CE133190XXX emit a high pitched wail when playing games. So now, not only does Sony leave your bank account hurting, they leave your ears hurting too.
I’m really not searching for bad things to write up about the PS3, they just keep coming in. I won’t deny that it’s a powerful machine, I just think the price is too steep among other things.

Boy, you PS3 fanboys really get worked up. I don’t ever remember him saying he was too poor to buy one, he said he couldn’t find a reason to. Why was his post a waste of time? I think it is pretty big news that the PS3’s have hard drives that whine. And I’m glad to see you turned things into a pissing contest with your 61″ 1080p samsung. And what’s with the basement comment? He owns it, so what if he spends time in it?

Hey, don’t forget the ps2 was the same amount of money when it released.. The ps3 is a really good piece of machinery and i am sure this guy hasnt seen a blu-ray or played the ps3.. cause then he would’ve known its really worth the money.
If you dont want to spend it, fine, just wait till it get cheaper, like everything right?
This blabla too expensive blabla crappy machine pissing me off. And if you want the
blu-ray war to end.. support blu-ray or hd-dvd with buying it, who needs people that are waiting for the war to end. If u need a tip: Go for blu-ray, the strong will survive.
Anyway, keep the posts coming! Big slashgear fan.

Wow I didn’t realize that they only sold PS3s to whiny little girls. Oh yeah when was the PS2 $600, that comment was stupid.
All the PS3 owners seem to be real good at lookin like an ass in the tech blogs. These guys report on the system they don’t make the system so if you don’t like to hear that a batch of them are broken then don’t read it, and don’t respond to it.

Hey Spencer, first of all welcome to SlashGear. All of my editors have free reign to write what they think about certain products. SlashGear isn’t a PR site, so you’re going to find strong feelings about these products. I suggest that if you want to read nothing but warm and fuzzy stuff about the PS3, to head over to Sony.com.
I’ve looked over Scott’s article, and found nothing wrong with the content.
For future reference, you can email me your feedbacks and comments at vincentn [at] gmail.com.

Spencer’s a douche…

All you guys have your own opinion of the PS3 and that is your right. However, lets face some facts:
1. The PS3 is expensive, therefore, some cannot afford it (I do not own one).
2. The PS3 is an advanced computer and is and will be the most advanced gaming console for some time (is considered so by many reviewers and experts as such).
3. The weight of the Mr. Bar’s opinion is weakened by the fact that he does not own one and cannot really attest to the value of it, nor does he mention any specific reasons why he does not like it except for the price and now some isolated rumor that some PS3s make noise. I own an Xbox and it makes a tremendous amount of noise, and that is normal for the console. At least most of the PS3s are very quite according to PC Mag and other well know review sites.
As for Spencer, and Ultrarange, lighten up and get over yourself.
