In respond to the recent announcement from AppleTV & Apple Video on demand, the broadband IP-based Vudu slashed its $399 Set-To-Box down to $295, effective yesterday in order to compete with the crowded VOD market.

As we all know, the price drop definitely raises question if they would refund or credit owner without 30 days of purchase. Yes they are, A $100 movie credit will be compensated for customers who’ve purchased the product in the past 30 days.

Personally, I believe Vudu has one of the best technologies and movies database available compare to the rest of the industry. The current 40GB Apple TV runs about $229 to $329 for 160GB model, hardware wise, the new $295 with 250GB Vudu sounds rather attractive in value. It’s also 1080/24p capable and expandable storage via USB. Let’s not forget it’s also the first VOD service to grant downloadable digital content at the same date as the official DVD release in HD.

Right, it’s always the typical Apple’s hype that shakes thing up a little bit too much. If wasn’t for the giant Apple behind the decade-too-late video player AppleTV, it would’ve got kicked out by HTPC and DVR enthusiasts long before it ever hit the shelf. AppleTV? *Rejected!*
