Samsung’s Galaxy S GT-I9000 has shown up for preorder on Vodafone UK’s site, priced from free with a new agreement. Expected to hit shelves on June 15th – next Tuesday – the Galaxy S has a 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16GB of internal storage (plus a microSD card slot) and runs Android 2.1.
There’s also a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a 5-megapixel camera, HSDPA and WiFi, together with Bluetooth and GPS. The camera can record 720p HD video, while the UI gets – for better or for worse – Samsung’s own TouchWiz 3.0 theme which does at least make it distinctive among the rank and file of Android.
Stump up for a £35 ($51) per month contract and you can take away the 16GB Galaxy S with no upfront payments, and since Vodafone have the exclusive on this particular model you won’t find it anywhere else, bar unlocked. The 8GB Galaxy S is currently up for order at Clove, priced at £452.38 (with a free 8GB microSD card) if you’d prefer to go the unlocked route.
