Vizio SmartCast sound bars bring Google Cast technology

Vizio has announced a new sound bar series that includes Google Cast technology. The new products are called, most appropriately, Vizio SmartCast sound bars, and they range from 38-inches in length to 45-inches. A total of nine sound bars have been announced, with the lowest price coming in at $180 USD, and the highest at $500 USD. Even better, the full lineup is available for purchase now.

The SmartCast sound bars follow Vizio's unveiling of Google Cast-equipped TVs. With them, users can stream songs and audio to the new sound bars using Google Cast, the same technology found in Chromecast. Want to listen to a new podcast? Cast it directly to the sound bar, no hassle necessary. The sound bars also support multi-room streaming for sending audio throughout the whole house.

The highest end model is the 45-inch SmartCast sound bar, which features 5.1 true surround sound and is meant to fit any television 47-inches and larger. The bar is 2-inches in height and 2-inches in depth, features rear satellite speakers, and can hit 30Hz bass with a 104dB Sound Press Level.

Things vary slightly depending on which model you get. The lowest end is a 38-inch 3.0 Sound Bar, while the next three steps up are also 38-inch offerings, but with 2.1, 3.1, and 5.1 surround sound. From there, there's a 3.1 and 5.1 40-inch bar, a 44-inch 5.1 bar, and two 3.1 and 5.1 45-inch bars.
