Vivitar may not seem popular, but it seems that they have launched a new camera at the PMA show this year. The ViviCam 5150 has a 5 megapixel sensor (no optical zoom), 16MB of internal memory and a 2 inch display. This seems like a plain camera and there is no word on pricing and availability yet.

I have just bought one in Tesco’s UK for £59.00 I am very impressed with it! Perfect if you want a little snappy that takes good picture with no fuss!

Agree, Vivitar is known for their low cost but decent quality film camera, it’s nice to know they still around to go into digital side

Just bought same today, from Tesco.
This one has white plastic body, unlike silver one in poto above.

Digi zoom produces rather poor results.

I thought that the quite plasticky example on the shelf in store was a dummy, but it is actually as nasty in real life.

Shots outside in bright sunlight produce good results.

Cames with 2x AA * Duracell * batteries in the box.

On reformatting the internal memory the shot counter/namer seems to reset also.
Internal memory can hold 6 or so shots in top resolution/quality setting, goe without saying that a SD card is a must to buy with this camera.

Takes good pictures ? Mmmm…..Tori perhaps should have gone to specsavers :-)

Fine for the price point, but if you can afford it, spend more to get a better quality one.

It seemed ok at first, but it seems to have gone downhill. I have had it for approximately 6 months, and after very light use, I can’t get it the power to stay on sometimes, no matter how fresh my batteries are, and the pictures are of terrible quality (not always a problem mind you, just one day the pictures started to come out horrible no matter what setting it is on). I found the fact that it could take video pretty neat, but the quality is so bad the videos just annoyed me. It really is just junk, invest a few more dollars into something better.
