Virgin Mobile's latest plan makes you choose between texting and talking

Following its text-and-voice-only promotional plan launched earlier this week, Virgin Mobile is going farther in the no-data direction, launching a cheaper $20 PayLo plan that offers only one thing: texting or voice, depending on which you select.

The new plan is only being made available through Walmart, and will work with an ordinary cell phone. Under it, users will get unlimited voice minutes alongside 50 text messages for those rare occasions they're need. For texters who rarely make calls, the plan is reversed.

Texters will get unlimited texting and 50 voice minutes. The plan only works with the Kyocera Kona and the Samsung Montage, which has to be picked up from Walmart. The plan doesn't entirely prevent one from accessing data, however.

Going over the minute or text limits (depending on which plan you select) will be charged per unit, with each minute costing $0.10 and each text causing $0.15 ($0.25 for picture messages). Data can still be accessed, but it'll be priced at $1.50 per megabyte.
