Vine Kids brings curated, looping videos just for your little ones

There are some universal truths about kids and the media they consume. Kids love flashy, colorful stuff, and they adore repetition. That's what makes the news that Vine has created 'Vine for Kids' so endearing. The new app culls kid-friendly vines from the service proper, then makes them available to the kids! A swipe left or right brings a new Vine, and a tap on the screen lets loose "quirky" sounds. For now, Vine Kids is only available on iOS devices.

So why a kid-friendly Vine app? It came about as you might expect. A Vine staffer lamented there was no such app, which sparked an idea amongst the team. According to Vine's blog post, it came at the right time, too. "That week happened to be Hack Week, a time when we get to work on projects outside of our day-to-day work. So two folks teamed up and built exactly that."

The benefit for Vine — which is a Twitter property — is a new user-base. Vine also craftily found a way into that children's demographic advertisers hold so dear. Though Vine doesn't have traditional ads, Vines themselves can be ads, and the content on vine Kids is curated.

It also gives kids something they want, on a platform that is approachable and easy to use. So long as parents can tolerate whatever "quirky" sounds pop out of the devices of their little ones, Vine Kids is likely staying put, and on a near-constant loop.
