The last time Viliv graced these pages it was with their P2 PMP back in 2006; now the company has returned with a Mobile Internet Device (MID), on show at the Intel Developers’ Forum.  The Viliv S5 MID has an 800 x 480 4.8-inch touchscreen and uses, unsurprisingly, an Intel Atom processor.  As well as WiFi and Bluetooth, it also has optional 3G HSDPA and WiBro.

There’s a choice of OS - Windows XP, Windows Vista or an unspecified Linux distro - together with 1GB of RAM and either 30GB or 60GB hard-drives.  Battery life is a claimed 5-6hrs from a 24wh power-pack.

Viliv apparently have a second ultramobile device in the works, the S7, with a larger convertible touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard.  Battery life for the S7 is reportedly even better than the S5’s.
