We have a nintendo at the home, i have over 40 games, i buy tons of nintendo games, they all suck but my kids love them.

But nintendo is still about Mario, Pokemon, Mario Kart and Supersmash brothers.

Other wise all the other games are just gimcky.

The only thing the new nintendo is good for is playing the old nintendo games.

....are you kidding me? Surely you must be trolling. I've seen Nintendo's main franchises evolve and change itself up FAR more than I've seen any other franchises. It's just idiots like you who don't play the games that just assume their rehashes. Like my fucking god, what does Nintendo have to do with their series to make people like you stop saying that? Seriously, I can't think of anything. Meanwhile idiots buy the 'newest' Call Of Duty's every year along with a billion FPS and Third Person shooters every 1-2 years that aside from advancing the story don't offer anything even close to drastically new. How do you people keep playing these same FPS's and never once complain that its the same damn thing or that the market is over-saturated with it yet have the nerve to claim that Nintendo's franchises are just the same thing over again. Please, tell me, it has been racking my brain for years, I need to know the answer.

Sorry my post was cut off, the Gamecube was more powerful than the Ps2, but not even close to the original Xbox. Also to the big Wii fan saying that Nintendo is so great that it changes the way we play. That it is not about the graphics. Let me ask you this, how was Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 on the Wii? The best games that have come out this generation, were not on the Wii. You have a few games and the funny thing is, the Wii saw those high numbers because it marketed to everyone. Now how many soccer moms and grandparents are going to be buying this? Not many, so Nintendo has alienated most of its fanbase, and is now behind Microsoft in the numbers game. So how many of these are going to sell, probably a bunch before the Xbox Durango, 720 or whatever they are calling it, and the Ps4. My prediction is, it will start out strong until the new Xbox and Playstation come to town. Then it will be inferior in tech, so the Wii U will get inferior ports maybe the first year or two and then they will have to release 57 Mario titles, while you people call them original. I see history repeating it self, but then again they are saying two more cycles and we will hit the proverbial wall. That is of coarse unless better cooling can be found.

Can you people get anything on Nintendo write? I'm starting to believe its deliberate at this stage.

"Being technologically inferior is a problem Nintendo has faced since the days of the Gamecube. "

Technically the Gamecube blew the ps2 away, not even up for debate. The Gamecube after all arguably generate the most impressive looking game of its generation in Resident Evil 4, it doesn't even compare on the ps2.

As for being the "same" as current generation consoles, we know the cpu at least is not! Wew have already been told its an IBM POWER7 cpu, most likely the lower models ones, which would make it a quad core power 7, each core capable of running 4 threads, thats 16 simultaneous threads. The 360 on the other hand run a three core cpu, each core being a modified version of the ps3s ppu(so not even POWER6) capable of running 6 thread al together, with substantially older tech.
As for the GPU even if its years old it will be newer and therefore more powerful than the 360s.

First the author is totally wrong on one of his "Facts," the Gamecube was not an inferior system to the PS2 or X-Box. In-fact it was the most powerful console of it's generation. The reason that Nintendo didn't get some of those great games that made the PS2 the winner of the last generation was not due to power. It was because Nintendo had a really bad relationship with third-party developers until close to the end of the last generation. That relationship was the product of years of neglect on Nintendo's part, dating back to the old NES days when Nintendo actually had a rule that no third-party developer could release more than 5 games per year! (Which in all fairness was an attempt to prevent the vast amount of shovel-ware that caused the Crash of 83') This in turn created a ton of spin off companies so that they could get around such a stupid rule! (Anyone remember Ultra Games?) Ever since there have been viable options in lieu of Nintendo consoles, they have been losing more and more third-party games. If you look at the specs of the systems for each generation, Nintendo has released the most technologically powerful console of it's generation since the SNES. The NES and the Wii are the only two systems which were inferior when you compared what was under the hood to what they competed with.

Second to James Hwang, how would Nintendo make more by becoming a third party developer? They have out sold the 360 and PS3 both in hardware and software this generation. By numbers alone, your argument would mean that you would like Sony and Microsoft to get out of videogame consoles as well and leave gaming to Apple and Android. I'm sorry, but I want a dedicated console, not the shallow experiences which prevale in the app store. Besides that, I don't want to have to make a choice of killing my phone battery and playing videogames on the go. If they can get a phone that lasts 2+ days of heavy use including games...nope, still want to be able to use my phone while playing.
Lastly, as some others have said so far in these comments, it really is audacious to think that Nintendo would really release a system that was only on par with the 360 and PS3. The system hasn't even been finalized yet. Any developer kits they are using right now, are only the bare minimum of what the Wii U will be truly capable of. Compare any launch title to any game made in the subsequent years, no one, not even Nintendo's own software developers are going to be fully utilizing it at launch. Not only that, but the PS3 and 360 have reached their peak, there isn't much more that can be cranked out of those systems. Nintendo has been in the console game longer than anyone else, do you really think they are taking Sony and Microsoft at their word that those two systems have a 10 year lifespan and they have no plans to release a new system till 2015 and 2016 respectively? The boot will drop soon enough, someone is going to flinch, and I'm thinking it will be at E3. This has been the longest console generation EVER. PCs continue to evolve the whole time we have our systems, the PS3 and 360 have only been able to add on motion controls. If they don't do something soon, they will lose their market share to a combination of Nintendo and PCs.

Wow, this article is just full of shit. Vigil is speaking of terms of graphics because Nintendo knows that almost every TV in America runs at a top of ten-eighty P (sorry my number keys are being a bit unresponsive) and they're not going to make it powerful enough to run over ten-eighty P display because buying a TV that can run over ten-eighty P would literally run your bank account bone-dry. Secondly, this is Nintendo we're talking a bout, they're making it roughly over twice as powerful as this generation consoles, because it makes the console much more affordable yet powerful enough to surpass this generation of consoles by quite a bit. Oh, and another developer said that they can make titles even better looking than the HD Legend of Zelda they showed at E3, and let's be honest, it was gorgeous. I can't wait for the Wii U's launch in America.

Please oh god Nintendo stop being stupid and give us Pokemon, Mario, and Zelda on iOS and Android! It's so annoying to have to carry an extra device to play those games! I guarantee that you can make a lot more money than you are now and gain a new fanbase.

Listen, this guy has to get paid for doing something, as opposed to waiting for real news. Besides, it's fun to see how wrong people really are when something finally gets revealed. I don't expect much better performance from Wii U than PS3, but I would hope the gfx chip is a little better, it HAS been 6 years btw. But just to finally see some Mario Kart in 1080p is going to be exciting, that's all that matters. Everything else is just details.

Thanks to Nintendo there is Kinect and Move(fail). If anything Nintendo has proven to be the most innovative out of the bunch. Believe it or not 'graphics' is not all there is to gaming. Nintendo has been the one changing the way we PLAY rather than just the way we SEE video games.
