Viewsonic's tablet plans have apparently been scooped by a talkative source, with Stuff.tv claiming that the company - best known for its LCD monitors - is preparing a 7-inch Android 2.2. Froyo slate for imminent release. The unnamed tablet is expected to include GSM/UMTS connectivity, for voice calls and presumably data access as well, together with a rear-mounted camera (of either 3- or 5-megapixels).
Pricing for the UK launch is tipped at between £300 and £400 ($478 to $637) with a debut predicted within a matter of two months or less. We're guessing that price is contract-free, in which case this Viewsonic slate might make interesting competition for the Dell Streak and delayed Huawei S7. The picture above, incidentally, is a mock-up rather than an official Viewsonic image.
