Verizon Sony Xperia Z3v hands-on

This morning we've had our first look at the Verizon-exclusive Sony Xperia X3v. This is the USA-based carrier version of the Sony Xperia Z3 – besides the T-Mobile version, of course. This "Sony Xperia Z3v" model – however similar to the Z3 – will be on Verizon's lines only. This device will be released around the same time as the Sony Xperia Z3 with T-Mobile, both of them heading to the USA with 4G LTE capabilities under the hood, a high-powered camera around the back, and a fully metal and glass build.

This device will come with essentially the same specifications as the Z3, but with a few minor differences. For one – there's a Verizon logo on the back. There's also a number of Verizon apps inside. Again – the differences are basic.

• Xperia Z3v has Qi standard wireless charging, other Z3 models do not.

• Xperia Z3v is slightly thicker than the Z3 due to wireless charging panel inside.

This smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 pixel (424PPI) IPS LCD display. Inside it has a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. Also under the hood you'll find 32GB of internal storage and a cool 3GB of RAM.

Up front you've got a 2.2 MP, 1080p@30fps camera while around the back you've got a 20.7 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. You'll be able to capture 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, and 720p@120fps video with this model as well.

This device is the same as the Z3 in that it works with IP68 certification – that's dust proof and water resistant over 1 meter and 30 minutes.

This device will be released with Verizon on October 23rd, 2014. Pricing will be $199.99 USD with a 2-year contract. Also feel free to head back to our first Xperia Z3 Hands-on as well!
