They talked me out of my unlimited data and boy, do I regret it! They told me only once did I use more than the usual amount of data. BUT, since I have switched to a limited plan I go over my data plan usage most months at least 1 GB and sometimes 2 which makes them an extra $10 each GB over the plan which is already costing me $50 a month. Isn’t this ironic. They knew if they could get me switched over they would have me hook, line, and sinker. I think it is a bunch of crap! I agree with Eye4detail’s comment below “If people really weren’t using as much data as they thought, what reason would VZW have for doing away with unlimited data plans?… As soon as you switch to the limited they have us hooked with a 2 yr agreement and there is nothing we can do about it. I just wish there were some good competition out there for Verizon which would give them a taste of their own medicine.

it just reminds me of way back when, when we first had shared minutes and they put limits on it, which meant that we paid the same price for about half the minutes and parents were freaking out because their teens were calling and texting at quadruple the rate we were. I don’t like guessing. No one does. I want to know that my data plan is enough. If I go with shared data with tethering, I would more than quadruple my data usage. I’m not giving up my unlimited plan, no way. I’d sooner jail break and tether.

strange, I never associate them as mutually exclusive. I thought they complement each other, one green light the other and takes payment on the side, i’m not all bleak but i do despise these phone companies their operating method is the one stop package, don’t see what you like , too bad, every guys sell the same thing.

T-Mobile has no LTE network. They have a HSPA+ network. They also wouldn’t stay unlimited for long else they would suffer the same indignity AT&T did after it started gaining popularity.

The penalty for Straight Talk is the daily data limit. Google search it and you’ll see tons of people that lost their number because they ported it to straight talk and then went over the daily data limit ~200mb and Straight Talk booted them. Now they need a new number and new service. No warning just gone.

capitalism and democracy are mutually exclusive in the moral sense. There are too many economic barriers to entry in capitalism. Democracy, on the other hand, is open to everyone. The economy is more aligned with capitalism than democracy.

The biggest money grab is the minimum shared data fee, which, at $50 for 1GB, is rape compared to the former 2GB of data for $30 that I have on my old post-unlimited data era plan on Verizon. T-Mobile needs better phones, though before I go that route.

its funny americans put up with this kind of behaviour from phone companies, yet they go out in the world and preach what a democratic institution looks like. how much money do they feed Verizon and the US govt who is collecting the phone taxes on the side.

Here’s the hole in his argument: If people really weren’t using as much data as they thought, what reason would VZW have for doing away with unlimited data plans? They’re basically saying that they’re just trying to screw their customers by making them pay premiums for data limits they’ll never reach anyway….or that their customers actually use a lot of data (especially on 4G) and they’re looking forward to squeezing every penny out of them for it.

Heading for T-Mo as soon as my contract’s up. We’ll see if they share VZW’s thoughts on “unlimited.”

well the thing is that you dont have to pay an arm and a leg for unlimited. T-mobile and Sprint both offers cheaper unlimited family plans that beat verizon and att shared plans. Verizon and ATT are only looking to increase their revenues with the high demand for smartphones.

It has to be an AT&T compatible phone for the plan I mentioned. TMobile uses different frequencies. U should be able to use a locked AT&T iPhone 5, but not till Straight Talk comes out with a nano SIM.

Customers are “not” volunteering to switch to the share
plan. It is forcing to switch. If you upgrade your phone to 4G, you “have to”
drop the unlimited plan, except you are paying the full retail price of phone,
which is above $ 500 each.

Second, if the average of 3G usage is 1.5GB, it will be much
more higher usage in 4G. It will not be
1.5 GB per month. Watch out your usage
monthly.

If TMobile can provide the better singles, I will switch to
T-mobile immediately.

Interesting. As a single person I was looking to switch to Verizon for iPhone 5 UNTIL THEY FORCED SHARE PLANS..It provides no options for singles..$100 plus fees for only 2gb..no thanks…visiting family with grandfathered at&t unlimited..They know nothing @ tech or plans..they just know they have great phones that work for entire family with no hassles or anything to worry bout. They have no clue how much data they use..but r picking up 2 iPhone 5s tomorrow at RadioShack

Screw Verizon! Use any GSM phone and buy a SIM from Straight Talk. $45 mo unlimited everything, and NO contract. Even works on AT&T LOCKED PHONES. I have been using it for over a year and LOVE it. Oh – and I was on ATT and tMobile before going with ST prepaid. Neither came close in terms of cost. As far as speed, it’s as good as the AT&T tower you connect to, as they buy aggregate bandwidth from AT&T. Best of all: if you don’t like them you can leave anytime without penalty.

I used to have a verizon unlimited plan. The most I ever used was 1.2 gigs in a month. When it came time to get my wife an iphone, it was much cheaper to just switch to a 4 gig share everything plan. Why pay an arm and a leg for unlimited if you don’t need it? That said, if i was commuting an hour on a train each way either way and i could use my phone like crazy, i’d definitely try to keep my unlimited plan.

Verizon has never has never bent to the pressure of the “other 2″ carriers, I’m sure it won’t start now. Unless T-Mobile offers the iPhone. Then everyone is in trouble.
