Verizon Nexus Prime app list leaked

Let me stop you right there and stomp on your foot a little bit with this one with a stern warning: any site that only has one entry in a section, like the source for this story, should be treated as suspect – that said, this list seems fairly possible. The list I speak of is an app list for what appears to be the Verizon version of the Nexus Prime, a mythical device that's supposed to be coming out soon via Samsung to be the hero phone for Google's Ice Cream Sandwich OS update. What you'll find here, again if you believe it's real, is a list of apps that contains no bloat.

This device, or a version of it, may well be coming out at the upcoming Samsung Mobile Unpacked: Google Episode that'll be taking place at this year's Autumn CTIA in California. What we know or can guess from all the rumors surrounding this device can be found in our Google's Next Nexus Phone Details Roundup [Mid-Sept 2011, pre-release]. What we're seeing now is that what's possibly called the DROID Prime, this being the Verizon exclusive deal on the next Nexus device.

Got all that? This set of apps really doesn't tell us the largest amount on the device, again if it is to be believed, other than there being a facial recognition app, FaceLock.apk, maybe the same one that sparked a rather large firestorm between CNN and Google earlier this year. During that time, Google reached out to SlashGear with the following statement:

"We are NOT "introducing a mobile application" (as the CNN piece claims) and as we've said for over a year, we would NOT add face recognition to any app like Goggles unless there was a strong privacy model in place. A number of items "reported" in the story, such as a potential app connecting phone numbers, email addresses and other information with a person's face, are purely speculative and are inventions of the reporter." Google spokesperson

Is this time the time?
