This is actually a great feature. The reason why is because verizon no longer has unlimited data so for the GS3 to notify me constantly is a plus. I will stay under my data allowance for the month.

hey guys,

to those who wish to remove the wifi popup, NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANYCUT!
simply open the dialer and enter the following code:
*#6335623#

this will open "HiddenMenuWifiOffload" menu.
select "Disable WifiOffloading"
press OK
done! :)

.. you might need to be rooted for this. I am. Otherwise, download anycut and make a shortcut to the activity "HiddenMenuWifiOffload" and press it. done.

I don't think this is a "bug" so much as a Verizon's heavy-handed attempt to encourage you to offload as much from their network as possible. Considering I'm an Android user because I want fine-grained control over things as important as networking settings, I don't appreciate the intrusion.

To get rid of it, download and install the app Anycut. it is not currently in the Play Store, but a Google search should find you the .apk. The app lets you make shortcuts to most any function in your phone. Install it, open it, select "New Shortcut", "Activity", and scroll down to HiddenMenuWifiOffload. Select it to make a shortcut on your home screen. Toggle the shortcut to turn on and off the annoying wifi prompts. Once it's turned off you can delete the shortcut if you don't want the clutter. Reboot the phone for good measure, and then smile satisfactorily to yourself.
