Well Duh! How could an unlimited bandwidth communication pipe to the home not be successful? When you consider the efficiencies of having all traffic over fiber like phone, TV, wireless, internet, home security, medical monitoring, movies on demand, shopping, gaming, etc not being controlled by a monopoly but by the city utility we all win. My only regret is Verizon saw the light and not city governments. This should be another city controlled 'not for profit' Communication Utility like Power, Water Sewer, Gas and Roads.
Can you imagine every mile of the interstate highway being controlled by private companies, the flow of goods and people would be much more expensive like with the toll roads in some states already.
We need government (citizens) to build the last mile and let private industry compete at the Head-End. Now we have true competition and the consumer will finally be paying a fair price for products and services vs. the corrupt overprices, over regulated near monopoly system we have today.
But that’s just my opinion.
