Verizon DuraXV flip phone is rugged and available now

Some folks don't care anything about a smartphone. All they want is a phone that can make and receive phone calls that is rugged enough to survive drops and life on the work site. Verizon has announced a new phone that will fit that bill perfectly called the DuraXV.

This is a feature phone and its biggest feature is the fact that it meets military standards for ruggedness. Kyocera built the DuraXV to meet Military Standard 810G and IP68 for resisting dust, shock, extreme temperatures, and water immersion. In fact, the mobile phone can survive being in water up to six feet deep for up to 30 minutes.

The phone can survive just about anything you might throw at it including drops, spills, tumbles, and just about anything else. The mobile is also certified for use in hazardous work environments including non-incendive, Class I, Division 2, Groups A-D, T4. Other features include a 5MP autofocus camera and video recorder.

A version of the rugged phone is offered that has no camera for work environments where cameras aren't allowed. The phone supports mobile web, VZ navigator for GPS, and voice commands phone navigation. The phone is on the Verizon website right now for $99.99 with a new 2-year contract or $8.33 monthly on Edge. The full purchase price is $199.99 with no contract.
