Verizon DROID X2 by Motorola official: 1GHz dualcore

Verizon Wireless has officially announced the oft-leaked Motorola DROID X2, the company's new 4.3-inch qHD resolution Android smartphone. The Verizon DROID X2 runs Android 2.2 - with a Gingerbread updated in the works, the carrier insists - on a dual-core 1GHz processor, and has an 8-megapixel camera with continuous autofocus and LED flash.

There's also an HDMI output in case the 960 x 540 display isn't enough for you, along with Mobile Hotspot functionality for sharing the DROID X2's connection with up to five WiFi-tethered devices. Motorola will also be preloading Swype for easier text entry.

The DROID X2 will be available online from May 19, priced at $199.99 with a new, two-year agreement (including mandatory voice and data plans). The smartphone will follow on in Verizon stores come May 26.

The DROID X2 will be available online at www.verizonwireless.com on May 19 and in Verizon Wireless Communication Stores on May 26 for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement.
DROID X2 customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and a smartphone data package. Nationwide Talk plans begin at $39.99 for monthly access and an unlimited smartphone data plan is $29.99 for monthly access.
