Valve confirms Steam platform coming to Macs in April

Mar 8, 2010

The Mac platform isn't exactly known for a plethora of readily-available computer games, but game development and digital distribution company Valve has announced today that it will be bringing its wildly-popular Steam gaming system, as well as its vaunted Source proprietary game engine to Apple's very own line of computers.

According to CNet, Valve's  current game lineup (yes, that includes the Half-Life and Left 4 Dead game series) will be available to Mac users in April, while first-person action/puzzle genre-buster Portal 2 will be released later this year, simultaneous for both PC and Mac platforms.

Finally, Steamworks for Mac will also see a new feature dubbed "Steam Play," which will allow gamers to purchase a game on either platform and play it on the other platform, completely free of charge.
