Having had a little contact with secretarial staff I would say that rather than provide them with a USB lamp which illuminates according to their typing speed and then expect them to work faster, you’d do better setting at them with a cattle-prod. I jest, of course (just in case any HR people are reading this and getting ideas).
Hook up the currently-Japan-only lamp to your computer, install the keyboard-monitoring software, and the faster you type the brighter the lamp gets. As far as I’m aware, though, it doesn’t track how accurate you are so if you really really need a sudden burst of light then you should probably get your cat to tap-dance on the keys.
It’s priced at ¥1980 (around $16) but there’s no telling if/when it’ll make it outside of the Far East.
