If you’ve got a laptop or other portable device that hasn’t got a PCMCIA slot, yet you want mobile broadband via EVDO, then Linda Epstein has the product – and review – for you. The Franklin Wireless USB EVDO modem is a chunky thumb-drive sized gizmo that plugs into your ultra-portable and lets you surf the net via Sprint’s high-speed data connection.

So does Linda love it? Well, she certainly enjoys the constant access and the faster speeds than GPRS or (heaven forbid) dial-up, but it’s not a cheap option and the hardware itself is a little bulky. Still, it wins the illustrious title of “Product of the Month”, so it must be doing something right.
