Are you ignorant to what is going on here?
The government is saving you money, price fixing isn't about keeping prices low, it's about artificially making prices high, by conspiracy between companies. That's illegal.
Hey - let's save even MORE money and not have courts at all - hey let's replace the government with a system of anarchy. We don't need laws, what are they for anyway?
You ignorant, ignorant fool.

Apple is specifically called out here, because they are notorious for this.
They have a closed ecosystem, which is morally objectionable in two primary ways, one of which is addressed with this legal action:
1) it's a world Apple controls, which is a monopoly within itself. As there's real money trading within it, and no alternatives within it - it is mandated, unavoidable, no competition - can't sell to people with iPhones or iPads without going through Apple, and Apple has stated policies banning retailers who try to bypass Apple.

2) Apple mandates 30% of any transaction that occurs within it's walled in ecosystem. That's regardless of profit margins that may not even be 30% for a retailer. This problem exists beyond the scope of just eBooks, and is largely why Apple was the most profitable company in the USA - this is exhorbitant, and wrong for a company (even one without so many profit tentacles outside of this revenue source) to mandate. It's analagous to 1920's mafia, offering "protection" to local businesses in exchange for 30% of profits. Protection... from what the mafia would do if they didn't get 30% of the cut.

These business practices do need to be policed. There's no where in the world where anarchy works. Imagine what it would cost you if I could walk into your house and take what I wanted with no consequences? What you propose is a step in that direction. Hey, I could kill you and have no consequences. What a great world that would be. You should run for President - you sound every bit as qualified as the candidates running on the Republican side-

They are looking every way other than the broken throttle/brake built into our economic system (the Fed interest rate adjustments). Republicans can't propose intervening in bank policies to restore control between inflation and recession and get the economy back on track, because Republicans have become much more radical in recent years. I registered as a Republican 20 years ago - now the party has become so degraded and nonsensical that it's deadlocked our congress for the past four years, and look what Republican leadership led us to. Look at the Presidential candidates.
I truly believe the party is throwing the election by introducing nonsensical candidates, because Republicans want to regain control of the economy as badly as anyone, and bank policies have to be intervened with to make that happen. If banks don't lend, interest rate adjustments don't stimulate money moving in economy or economic growth. We aren't in a recession because of illegal immigrants or because we have too many forest rangers. It's silly thinking. Get over yourself.
