This will only “help” people waste their time and money. It’s bullshit excuses like that which allowed this waste of a course to be established in the first place. I love playing starcraft 2 in my free time, but i would never even think to enroll in a course like this. My family would kick me to the curb as an incurably stupid moron if i ever seriously told them i wanted to enroll in a course dedicated to a video game.

Everyone learns in different ways so if this helps some people then im totally for it. It must of had some sort of worth if he was able to convince them to start a course. If its jsut an excuse to play video games then burn it.

It won’t do anything for America other than further perpetuating retardation. What prospective employer is going to take your study in StarCraft remotely seriously? These principles can be easily taught and better demonstrated without the absurdity of parallels to an infantile computer game. How many fools are actually going to piss away tuition and years of their life for this?

An ignorant comment to say the least. Little does he know not any idiot can play starcraft2. It can teach entrepreneurs the importance of economic management, micro-managing units and strategically utilizing them to the best of their abilities all while doing re-con on the enemy base and coming up with an appropriate plan of attack. Which you can use in the real world. You can also think of it as a modern more complex version of chess. Play the game, learn it, then talk.

You totally missed the point. This is a class in creative problem solving. The environment is a video game. If anything, this helps the US in the world by improving the important skills needed to compete.

This is absolutely ridiculous. No wonder why the US is so far behind the rest of the world in terms of education. News like this just confirms that I made the right decision in turning down UF’s scholarship offers. Extremely proud to be a UCF Knight, where academics and student life come first and foremost.
