Unity hits Xbox One: free for all Indy Devs

Cross-platform distribution is the name of the game when you're talking about Unity. They've announced today that they're ready to bring a public preview of Unity 4.3 to the Xbox One this week, partnering with Microsoft to bring their software to all registered ID@Xbox developers with development kits. What does this mean for you, the gamer?

For you, the gamer, this means that a whole bunch of awesome games that are already out on the PC will be coming to Xbox One. Games like the following will be first:

• Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime by Asteroid Base

• Ori and the Blind Forest by Moon Studios

• Roundabout by No Goblin

• Cuphead by Studio MDHR

First have a peek at this 1 or 2-player co-op came Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. This game is already out for Mac and PC.

In Ori and The Blind Forest you'll be dropped into a world thats four years in the marking. It's a "Love Letter to 2D Gaming" in a modern gaming technology universe.

Roundabout is absurd. You're going to get sick.

Cuphead is the game we're most excited about on this list. Summoning a classical age in cartoon-making, this game brings the heat with gameplay you'll understand instantly and visuals you'll have only ever seen in Merry Melodies before.

NOTE: Stay tuned to SlashGear's Interview portal for more on Cuphead – we've had a chat with the creators and you're going to want to listen in this week!

All of the above games would not have made it to Xbox One so soon – or in some cases EVER – if it weren't for Unity. Developers can make their way to the platform at xbox.com/id to sign up and make the jump with Microsoft and their Unity team-up.
