Uber tries to woo 'partners' with new magazine for drivers

The relationship between Uber and its drivers is an increasingly strained one, something that wasn't helped last week when the company revealed that about 50,000 of its drivers had some of their information compromised as part of a security breach. Uber has done little things over its time to try to win favor with its drivers — whom it has, though perhaps not wisely so, chosen to call 'partners' — including its "Momentum Partner Rewards". Joining that is its new Momentum Magazine.

The ridesharing service introduced its new magazine today, saying that Momentum is designed and written specifically for its driver-partners. The first issue is already created and ready for download on Scribd (you don't, of course, have to actually be a driver to download it). This is the first issue of what looks to be a continually free offering.

This first issue is 15 or so pages long, and covers different topics that will, presumably, be of interest to drivers. There are snapshots of social media posts related to Uber, as well as tips for ways drivers can stay healthy, business news ("Austin Comes Aboard"), tips and recommendations from existing drivers, and more.

Said Uber's head of operations Ryan Graves, "We want to strengthen the community of our driver partners — currently 150,000 people strong — by making sure you are up to date on new developments within our company and giving you new and improved methods to connect to us and one another."
