Twitch brings iOS streaming in-game with Asphalt 8

This week the folks at Twitch have announced their first effort in mobile device streaming with in-game integration with the racing game Asphalt 8: Airborne. This game's streaming abilities will start with the iOS version of the title for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, while we must assume that the Android update will be coming sooner than later. This game is just the first in a long line of Twitch mobile gaming efforts, with streaming coming to both iOS and Android this year.

As it turns out – as evidenced here, that is – streaming for mobile devices through Twitch won't just be a Google/Apple integration situation. Gameloft has opted to work with Twitch's SDK – software development package – to bring streaming right through their own single app. This is different from the PC and Xbox One/ PS4 integration shown so far, these systems all needing separate apps to stream.

One of these apps we saw demoed back in December for Windows, that being the NVIDIA GeForce Experience's ShadowPlay. This software comes with the GeForce Experience, also bringing on simple game recording and in-game screenshots as well as game optimizations galore.

When streaming with Asphalt 8, users will be able to stream their voice as well as their own image using the iPhone or iPad's front-facing camera. Integration will also have other streams of the game shown in the first menus for the game, allowing Twitch viewing without having to leave the app.
