Now the “No used games” model is starting to make sense. I bet this will happen – one expensive machine – set top box, IPTV, DVR, Blu-Ray player, all your entertainment needs. Also only plays new games. Cheaper one – plays used games and uses similar interface to today’s offerings.

Yea it’s sucks because the game devs are pigeon-holed to the consoles graphics capabilities. Compare a PC from 2004 to one you could buy today, huge differences. Xbox tech is almost ten years old.

ARM architecture isn’t powerful enough to handle the gaming that’ll be done on the next gen consoles. The greatest chance would be the ARM-15 architecture but that is not far along in development as it needs to be for use in these consoles. Why would Microsoft go out and blow their money on creating new hardware? They didn’t spend their money on making a CPU/GPU for their Xbox and it was successful, so why would they start now?

no, the stripped down version will not be any more “less powerfull’ then the more expensive version.
I bet it will just have less Usb ports, no HDD and no backwards compatability or cables other then the power cord. The hardware inside both of the systems will be exactly the same, just one with more features and one with less features, it will be the same thing as the next playstation i bet.

ARM processors are simply an architect. A low powered, small form-factor architect that ‘other’ CPU manufacturers pay royalties to develop on. Each mobile platform uses a version of ARM tech, rather than a “ARM CPU” as you suggest.
There is nothing from stopping MS, a multi-billion dollar company that has more $$$ than pretty much all of the mobile carriers on the planet, from adopting that architect, and building their own ARM-based CPU, ‘for extreme gaming’…
This has been Intel’s #1 fear, that someone will take that architect, and develop a really robust chip. Once that happens, the old dog and pony show will pack up it’s tents.

The whole point of the article is that there would be two systems. One would be the uber gaming console with the usual PowerPC based chip. The casual one would be for the Kinect/Nintendo Wii types, for which ARM is perfectly acceptable.

Love this strategy and I hope they fix the branding. xbox 360 wasn’t a great name. I’d like to see just xbox or xbox live or Kinect for the small one and xbox X, xbox pro or xbox gold or even plain xbox for the large one. playstation, ps2, ps3, that was a brilliant brand name. xbox 360 is a mouthful and sounds like an American truck or commercial van. Everyone just ends up saying xbox.

And of course netflix should be free on the small box. This $50/yr gold membership rule to watch netflix is silly when I can spend $79 on a roku with an better interface.

I have dropped my ps3 controller alot and I have also thrown it across the room at time and it still works. From what I am seeing from all of your comments you sound like little kid that has nothing better to do their time but make stupid comments or agree with what everyone else is saying. I do not understand what dropping your controller has to do with anything at all because it does not make a system better that the other one you ignorant cannot that only trolls websites to speak badly of a system they know nothing about. Atleast I can say I own both the 360 and a ps3 unlike you who only bought a system because of the brainwashing from Microsoft and comments made by everyone else you cannot following loser.

If the Xbox 720 and the Ps4 come out in the same year, i will choose that one i know that will be worth buying, not who likes Xbox 720 more or Ps4 more.
In this Generation i choose the Ps3, why the Ps3??? Well, like i said i will choose the one that is worth buying. I know that Xbox 360 is good for online gameplay, but i will not throw money just to play online. Lets see an example: xbox 360 4gb= 199… Ps3 160 gb= 250…… 199 plus 50 for online, and not just 50 it will be more than that in 5 years of playing online on xbox that will be 550. i rather stay with ps3.

I came to troll,,,,,,,,,,,, and this is my opinion not a fanboy or something. i bought a xbox 360 with kinect for 200 plus a 50 gift card. good for me

I was only trying to say that people like John Baldwin should keep their stupid comments to themselves and stop acting like they own both systems to prevent themselves from being called an ignorant cannot. Next time you want to correct someones grammar do it on a website about teaching english because as I stated I really did not care about my grammar, the only thing I cared about was getting my point made about how people always trash one system over the other but gain nothing from it.

When I wrote my reply I really did not care about commas or periods, the only thing I was getting at is how retarded people are and how obsessed people are when it comes to there video game systems. I would like to know when did posting a comment on a website need to be checked for grammar but I guess to people like you it is more important than the actual comment being made or the actual point that is being made. Agreed! Sony became too cocky after destroying my favorite gaming company “Sega” and owning the market with their PS2! I still have my old white premium model the only time its had a hiccup was when i didn’t clean the dust underneath the cabinet and the power brick got to hot and all i did was let it cool off and unplugged it and it was good to go.

I am seriously doubting they will put an ARM process in ANY gaming machine.
If they would, I don’t what they were thinking.

Everyone speaks of ARM as if it was the something that would solve all our woes. But it is not.
The ARM is a low-power processor mainly for embedded systems (such as phones), but it is not, and I repeat, it is not meant for high-end systems such as those required for gaming. The processor is simply too weak.

You must be in denial because anytime I play on my 360 I always encounter younger snotnosed kids that all they do is trash talk and make my experience for online play no fun. As far as the online play I really do not see a difference other than having to pay for the 360 online play so if you are going to make a stupid comment like you have you resolution should atleast try the other gaming system out instead of saying you own both and that your experience on the PS3 is much worse than the 360 you true fanboy losses. Both systems have there good qualities and each one does pretty much the same thing and it really boils down to what system people want to buy and play. So next time really think before you make stupid comments like you did, I know I already said that but I think it is really stupid for someone to act like you did because do you really think Microsoft cares that you made a comment trashing the PS3 I really do not think so I think the the only thing these companies care about is how much money they make not how manybignorant people defend there systems.
