Pedal powered cars seemed to be making a lot of news lately. While it seems that making your own and driving it around isn’t quite legal it’s apparently ok to buy one.

Twike

This “green-mobile” was designed in the 1980s by students in Switzerland and then picked up Fine Mobile GmBH. It has electric batteries, a regenerative braking system and a maximum speed of 53mph and gets 80 miles per charge. If that wasn’t enough for you it gets 565 miles per gallon.

It looks a little odd but it’s really a great thing for the environment. You can purchase one $26,000 but not this year as they are all sold out and even having a waiting list going for next year.

At 565 MPG, Twike’s definitely not your typical EV [via Born Rich]
