You did mention maintenance costs. I apologize. You just didn't mention them in a manner that suggest that you have any idea of what the hell you are talking about.

You started off talking about channeling heat radiation into space. The idea has been around a while, albeit trying to pipe the energy the other direction. So far, no joy. if you have some ideas, please call NASA or the guys working on the next Star Wars script.

Now you are talking about capturing heat and trapping it in some sort of material, presumably to be blasted into space by other means. We already have that scenario, we refer to it as nuclear waste, and while it is not as unmanageable as many make it out to be, it has proven somewhat problematic in some very dramatic episodes.

On the issue of the warrior king. Huh?

This is a reminder of the fundamental laws of physics. Everything we do has a consequence – equal and opposite (even if those consequences are not always apparent). Wind farms and other alternative energy technology may (or may not) have fewer consequences for our environment then other technologies when taking into account all actions and reactions (i.e. the health consequences of pollution from fossil fuels) but there are consequences, especially when taken on the scale necessary to meaningful add to our energy supply. There is no free ride.

In the short term the earth is not a closed system - we receive a constant stream of energy from the sun but we also loose energy to space. However, the ability of the earth to process the energy in and out within a range capable of supporting the intricate interconnections required to maintain a habitable planet is greatly put at risk by many of our behaviors.

I believe we have already set in motion the end of life as we know it. The issue is not about slowing down what we are doing but reversing what we have done.

This should be a reminder there is no easy fix in world with near 7 billion people. Presuming technology to find the cure - when technology is largely responsible for the problem - is mistaken and misguided. The solution will not be from technology but rather learning how to live in greater harmony with the world we have.

A) I mentioned maintenance costs, which would still save billions annually compared to having a mobile army to protect oil interests abroad.

B) You can also use materials to trap heat, and by conduction and minor energy input, concentrate larger amounts of heat energy into a tiny space then blast it into space, like a KAMEHAMEHA!!!!

Also, all the big-time man-made global warming supposedly increased the mean temperature by about 1.5 degrees in the last century. Maybe a degree in a decade really is a big deal.

Although the volcanic eruptions in Iceland in the last year or two released more greenhouse gases than all of the man-made greenhouse gases since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution combined, so who knows?

What we do know is that everybody living near those things hates them for their constant subsonic noise that makes them feel physically and mentally ill. Maybe we can get Solyndra to solve this problem. Maybe they could postpone going out of business long enough to steal another half trillion dollars.

Maybe, just maybe, we accept neither as gospel? You see, "gospel" is a religious idea, but this is science. All we ask is for actual science to be done, which means repeatable experiments, hypotheses that can't be falsified, etc... i.e., the scientific method. However, there's been plenty of falsification, exposed fraud, manufactured "evidence" and so on, yet the AGW crowd ignores it and keeps on their agenda.

Tell me, who's paying for all those "decades of research" by "thousands of scientists"? Right! The politicians who want to use it as an excuse to gain more control! No, they're not just as suspect as Big Energy, you say... The politicians only have 1000x the budget of Big Energy, 10^23 times the ambition and the police powers to back it all up, but they're good, right?Personally, this article and the others like it today would be freakin' funny if all this Klimate Krap wasn't so f'ing expensive to implement. Next week, if I haven't missed one already, there'll be an article about how solar panels are killing the speckled tree aphid because they cause climate change.

Thermo dynamics would suggest that the net energy in the atmosphere would have to decrease. Right? Didn't a bunch of the atmospheric energy just get transformed into electricity and shoot down the wire? Sure, I can imagine that a tiny amount of heat might be generated by the turbine itself, but it would have to be less, I'd imagine, than almost any other form of power generation.

Fire - Fire good. Fire give light and heat. Cook food. Yum. Cool! you can burn this whale oil and it gives light? That's great! Hey, these black rocks from the side of this mountain just keep burning. It makes lots of heat! That's great! You say that this black crap pouring out of the ground can be refined and burned? We can even get it to move cars and generate electricity? Awesome! What, these things are bad for the environment and our health? huh, ok, well, these warm rocks can be refined to generate ALOT of power. Oh, some of the designs for the reactor are no so great, and driven by politics? Well, this wind turbine generate some power, but doesn't put any crap into the air! Awesome, let's put in lots and lots to make up for those nuclear reactors and oil plants we would have built! What, it creates local environmental changes? Dammit! OK OK, don't panic. Wait, what? It seems that just being alive is bad for the environment? F&*^&*!#K!!! Why don't we all just kill ourselves then?

It seems pretty obvious that removing energy from a weather system will have an effect somewhere. Every wind turbine removes energy from somewhere and the laws of physics can't be broken to suit a green agenda. The wind is bound to have less energy after being interrupted by hundreds of windmills. It's about time the true environmental cost of solar, wind, hydro, tidal and wave power is reported and it doesn't matter who funds the research as long as the public finds out the truth.
