Ah, those crazy guys over at Yanko Design. We’ve covered many, many PMPs in the past, but nothing quite like the conceptual design. Not satisfied with the design of modern media player, Yanko has come up with this beauty; a triangular, two-piece PMP whose base comes apart to reveal a large, flexible video screen. Pretty neat, huh? The device apparently will operate in two modes; MP3 mode and OLED mode. The difference can be seen above, and I’m impressed, to say the least.
In MP3 mode, the device is completely closed; song information is displayed across the built-in LCD on the front, while the controls rest inside the groove on the front panel (I’m assuming this is achieved with magnets). When opened, the flexible LCD screen unfolds, and the triangular base acts as a stand so that one could set the player down and watch from a short distance. The controls then come out of the front panel to act as a remote. Overall, I doubt we’ll ever see a design like this, but on the offchance that we do, put me down for a pre-order, please.
