I purchased a couple sets of powerline ethernet adapters a couple months ago for use across my house. They really work like a charm, and I'm even using devices from different manufacturers too (Netgear and Trendnet). So far, they've all been very reliable and none of them have had a single issue yet.

The only negative thing I've heard is that they're susceptible to power hits so they tend to have a short-ish lifespan in areas with crappy lines, which is understandable since you can't really protect them with a surge protector. Still, even if I had to replace them all once a year it'd be preferable to the 802.11n I had before (especially since you can get refurbished devices for less than half price via Newegg).

I would say if you've been a habitual buyer of wireless access points looking for the one that might actually work worth a damn, give powerline ethernet a try.
