Toys "R" Us offers trade in program for those old Atari games

I don't traditionally trade in my video games when I am finished with them. This is mostly due to the fact that my kids tend to scratch them to the point that they aren't playable before we beat the game. I also don't like the fact that you typically get a pitiful amount for your games and then the place you trade it in sells it for $5 less than a brand new game costs.Toys "R" Us has announced that it is launching a new video game trade-in program that covers games from old consoles all the way back to the Atari 2600 up to current consoles like the PS3 and Xbox. In all the trade-in program covers 25 current and classic systems. Maybe I can finally turn those 3DO games in the attic into $4 towards a new game.

To be traded in the games must be in their original cases with the original artwork. The trade-in starts at the customer service desk where the game is scanned and a trade in offer is made. If the game owner accepts the price, the trade-in amount is placed onto a Toys "R" Us gift card. There is no mention on how much will be offered for games, but expect it to be as low as other trade-in sources offer.
