I can kind of see the value in this. If I have the space to plug in a mouse, that is ideal. When I don't I often get frustrated with the built in mouse laptops offer, so I think I'd actually like a touch screen. I wonder what the price point is though, that to me would be the deciding factor on whether or not to have that bit of extra convenience.. Well that, and how responsive it turns out to be.

Totally agree, that is where my comment below was coming from. As much as I love the android OS, until it can support full applications (even if the hardware couldn't necessarily handle them), I just don't see the point in owning a tablet. And I'm not going to be touching the screen of my laptop, even as a developer. I mean I guess maybe if your testing applications that will be used on a tablet/phone, but why not just make them one in the same (ala Windows 8)

Not sure how popular they'll be with consumers or businesses, but as a developer, I've held off getting a new laptop for a while now because I'm waiting specifically for these.

Yea, I don't really see laptops/desktops functioning all that usefully as touch devices. I DO see them making an OS for tablets that is fully inclusive and then offering a docking keyboard to make it perform as if it was a laptop. Asus Transformers have already done this, but with Windows 8, they would now become a fully functional system (with business apps). Then remove the screen and tada, tablet.

I'm still dreaming of the day when a padfonetop exists. A tablet, with an embedded phone, with a keyboard dock. Now I have one portable piece of tech that fills every niche of portable electronic I may need. Hopefully Asus's padfone comes with a docking keyboard. If so, that will be my next and possibly last mobile tech purchase for a long time (until they make screens you can stretch like play-dough).

I want an ultrabook tablet that allowing the screen to rotates and can be use as tablet as well as laptop. It is an old concept design but with ultrabook lightweigh I can see it being use just like an ipad when it covered the keyboard.

I'm not sure that a touch Ultrabook will really add much to the notebook experience. 1.2kg is still a huge weight. 11.6" a huge size and will limit tablet use. Having owned a convertible touch notebook I suspect they will never be used as tablets. They might work in verticlas and certain apps and interactions work but it's limited.
