If you have been waiting for Toshiba to start shipping their AMD-based notebooks, the wait is over. They have begun shipping the first of these today.

A215

The new AMD chips will be found in Toshiba’s A215 line of laptops. They will feature Turion 64 X2 dual-core processors and range from $889.99 to $1,249.99 on their website. Other slightly different models will be available in retail stores such as Walmart.

The $889 A215-S4757 will feature a Turion 64 X2 TL65 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 250GB of hard drive space, an ATI Radeon X1200 and Windows Vista Home Premium. The A215-S4767 will differ from the S4757 only by having a Turion 64 X2 Gold Edition TL64 and Windows Vista Ultimate.
