If HD-DVD were to survive, the new gigashot’s add-on from Toshiba would have been more attractive as an optical recorder but they will have to make do and mend with a legacy DVD burner instead.

Live goes on, Toshiba Japan unveils the Gigashot GSC-DW1 DVD burner that enables a direct recording from their Gigashot A/K series HD cam to a single layer DVD-R via USB 2.0. The supplied remote control makes it easy to playback recording contents via composite, component or HDMI output to a TV display. The unit uses AC adapter will be available in Japan later this month for 17,800 Yen ($ 173).
