Toshiba's latest tablet, the Portégé M780, has broken cover, and if you're in the market for a 12.1-inch convertible based on Intel's latest Core i3 and Core i5 processors, then join the queue.  The M780 weighs in at 2kg and has an onboard DVD burner, together with up to 8GB DDR3 memory, a 2.5-inch HDD or SSD and WiFi b/g/n.

As for the display, that's a 12.1-inch 1200 x 800 TruBright LED backlight panel with multitouch support for Windows 7 gestures.  Connectivity includes Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, two USB 2.0 ports, eSATA and audio in/out, plus there's a microphone, webcam and fingerprint scanner.

Finally there's a semi-rugged case and spill-resistant keyboard, and the whole thing measures 305 x 239 x 37.4-39.4 mm.  The Portégé M780 is yet to show up on Toshiba's site, and there's no word on pricing.
