Toshiba LT170 Android tablet launches

Toshiba has launched a new tablet in Italy that runs the Android operating system and uses a Freescale CPU inside. The tablet is called the LT170 and has a seven-inch screen supporting capacitive multitouch with a 1024 x 600 resolution. The tablet uses a Freescale i.MX53 CPU operating at 1 GHz as its brain. It also has 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal flash storage.

Like most Android devices, it has a microSD card slot for expansion and a micro USB port. The tablet is thin and light with a weight of 388g making it the lightest tablet in the 7-inch realm. The tablet gets power from a lithium ion battery promising enough power for up to seven hours of video playback per charge. It will support the wealth of Android apps available for download.

The tablet also has an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen to lighting conditions. The tablet also launches with accessories available including a slim case and a screen protector. The tablet has a blue satin back, and will be available in Italy at the end of March for €299, and can be pre-ordered in some stores. The tablet cameras are 0.3-megapixel front and a 2-megapixel rear. The tablet measures 200.25 x 128.5 x 11.5 mm.
