There's definitely still no clear victor in the battle for the high-def disk formats, but HD-DVD has made an advancement into an area that Blu-ray has yet to touch. Your car.
Toshiba has been working with Alpine Electronics to deliver an in-dash HD-DVD player for your car. Aside from wondering who actually needs a high-def picture while driving, I'm wondering how many people are actually going to cough up the cash for a tiny screen capable of viewing HD. I'm thinking the overall investment would outweigh the gain.
This is still only a development, but Toshiba is planning on releasing these units sometime in 2008. Somehow I don't think the car market is going to be the deciding factor in the format wars.
