Toshiba announced today that they are starting to ship their solid-state drives that utilize the 43-nanometer process. While these drives won’t be available directly to the public initially, they will be included in new computer models shortly.

These new drives include a 2.5-inch model available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB versions. They are capable of a 230MB/s read and 180MB/s write speed, which is pretty impressive.

For smaller computers like netbooks, there’s the 1.8-inch model to be available in the same capacities stated above and will have full enclosures and unprotected modules that can be used in mobile devices. We don’t know which companies will receive these drives yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we do.
