If you’re looking for a cheap projector (yes cheap, not just inexpensive) then the Torpedo Entertainment Projector is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

The Torpedo Entertainment Projector has an abysmal resolution of 940 x 240 which can almost be compared with some cell phones. Well, not quite, but you get the idea. It will project an image from many devices that is 6-feet tall.

For $169 it would be just fine for your child’s cartoons, but probably not much else. Then again, it would be tempting to see how some games look on it for that price.

Sure it’s cheap and not even close to a real DLP/LCD Projector, but it works surprisingly well. For example, Win-AMP Visualizations look amazing blown up to 12’. Regular SD TV and Cartoons look great. Basically any video source with a strong input signal works best.

I only wish I had this kind of toy when I was growing up… would be been so cool.

Take a look for yourself at some example photos taken of the Torpedo Projector in use.

For $100-150 it’s more than I would have expected. It may have been reviewed as a “complete joke”, but the photos should speak for themselves.

*Multiple photos taken with both lights on/off for comparison
*NTSC color bar and gray scale ramp test
*Images captured with a Canon G2 on a Tripod with a 1sec shutter.

Not bad for only $149! Overall impressive that a 35W bulb can output so much light in a darkened room.
