Our son uses the eye-gaze to communicate as well. It is amazing and yes he get to the internet. It is amazing to watch him google things that interest him. I hope Tobii stays independent. This is our only lifeline to be able to communicate with him.

If your son is using a c series device, then he can access the internet with that. We have videos on the tobiiati website to show how to use eye gaze for windows control.

My son uses their eye-gaze technology for communication. I’ve been looking forward to the time when they introduce the technology to allow him, and the millions like him, to directly access the computer and, most especially, the internet. LOVE this company! @ Charles Jones; I’ll pray you’re wrong and Tobii doesn’t sell out to anyone. I’d be terrified to see what would happen to their customer service for their assistive technology group!

I knew they had that up there sleeve, it was not surprising when they jumped the ocean and bought Assistive tech inc in Ma. as a jumping point for things much more Grand such as the overall gates plan, a universally accesible computer

i can forsee apple eventually creating a novel and alternative method of eye tracking navigation and then patenting the hell out of it.

I can see the future: Microsoft will buy out Tobii for $300- $400 million, then improve the technology to work with Kinect flawlessly… then Google will infringe on all of Msoft’s patents and implement the same technology into all their tablets and phones only in a much more degraded and buggy format… then all those in the tech press will report that Microsoft now needs to catch up…

That looks like a lot of fun to me.

Just like any other technology it will be tuned, improved, and made dramatically more cost effective. This definitely isn’t something that will be ready for the average consumer in the next year or so, but it’s awesome that they’re working on it (and this far along). It won’t take too long before it’s a realistic option for those that would like to use it.
