TiVo Roamio set top boxes stream live and recorded content outside the home

TiVo announced its Roamio DVR line back in August of this year. The DVRs offered the ability to record four to six programs at the same time. The line includes the Roamio, Roamio Plus, and the Roamio Pro. TiVo has announced a new service is now available for this DVR line.

The Roamio Plus and Roamio Pro DVRs now have out of home streaming available that lets viewers stream and download live TV and recorded content to a smartphone or tablet from anywhere. Using the service you can view any show that's playing on your TV right now or play anything recorded to the DVR from anywhere you can get a Wi-Fi connection for your mobile device.

Roamio users can also download content at home to their mobile device so they can watch it when a Wi-Fi connection is not available. TiVo's new mobile experience also offers a second screen dashboard providing instant personalized recommendations when you launch the TiVo app.

The app also allows remote scheduling letting users view the programming guide and manage recordings as well as set a Season Pass from anywhere. Users can also take advantage of mobile search and discovery wherever you happen to be. The Roamio Plus DVR sells for $399.99 with the Roamio Pro selling for $599.99. TV watchers who already own one of these DVR will receive the out of home streaming feature via an automatic software and mobile app update that begins rolling out today. Support for streaming over 4G/LTE and to Android devices is coming next year.
