Please don’t have children. I’m in the top tax bracket and don’t pay for cable TV… why? It’s overpriced garbage. Could I afford it? Sure… but I don’t buy things just because I can afford them; they have to provide a service commensurate with the price

Also, if you pay for cable TV, you are giving money to people who will use it to purchase horrible and in some cases immoral legislation

I personally wouldn’t mind paying for an extra premium package of Netflix if it included HBOGo and all the other premium channels that you have to pay for with cable. But I know cable companies would never let that happen.

You do realize that people have been growing up without T.V. for thousands of years right?
Now more than ever is the perfect time to cut the cord. We are in a recession (and don’t believe otherwise) and cable has always been a luxury, If you have internet then you can see EVERY single show/movie/Live sports/PPV event that comes on cable/satellite t.v. for almost anywhere in the world for only the price that you pay for your internet bill. I pay $30 for internet, 8 each for Hulu and Netflix. So $46 vs $100 which would you rather pay? How about this $1200 a year vs $552 a year?
Does it make you a miser if you grow your own vegetables instead of buying them from the store? or You do you own home repairs instead of calling a professional?

So long as it needs a cable subscription it’s part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Cable bundles hundreds of crappy channels together so they don’t need to face market discipline. If people had to pay for Spongebob Squarepants, reality shows about coupon cutters and pawn shops, CNN and the Weather Channel, all of these things would dry up and blow away.

Since Time Warner owns HBO, this isn’t a way to make money selling premium content, this is really a way to keep people subscribing to cable and keep the money train moving for third-rate content.

I think it also has the potential to be the number one trucking company in the USA.
If they buy bunches and bunches of trucks then I see no reason why they can’t.
Also popcorn.
They could have the best popcorn.
If they invent the best popcorn and then build a factory to make the popcorn and then sell it – then I see no reason they could not be selling the best popcorn potentially.

It’s unbelievable how cheap some people are from reading these comments. I feel bad for your kids if you have any in the future. Growing up in a miser household without cable tv really sucks. Hbo go is fantastic and already beats Netflix. Hbo’s shows are better than anything else out there and their documentaries, boxing coverage and selection of movies beats Netflix. Netflix only has a few loss leader new releases and a tons of old junk (not because of age. The old movies they have tend to be the garbage) that I wouldn’t waste my time on. Netflix will have even less good content this year since they refuse to pay more the content and their contracts with studios are expiring left and right. Seriously cable tv and hbo are worth it. Pay the $100 and enjoy. I assume you guys are the same type who try to use prepaid sim cards on iPhones and androids.

HBO-Go is just like Netflix except that it’s not because you have to have cable and HBO which means you are paying 100+ bucks a month

Don Reisinger continues to write the most inane articles on this site. The “next Netflix” wouldn’t require you to subscribe to a cable channel in order to get it and it wouldn’t tie you in to one single provider’s programming.
